Sometimes you don’t know if certain decision you took is good or bad especially when you feel sorry taking after awhile, and turn out to be the best decision you took over the time !
This is what is happening to me now; I made the decision of leaving the banking sector 2 years ago and moved to the education sector and now I just realized how it was for my good when I am starting to hear how some banks are releasing many of their employees and giving them a time period to find another job, after the late economic crisis that affected many banks. In fact some of them are friend of mine and I really feel sorry for them.
I am really relived of that regret feeling that I was having for long time.
It is very hard to live with unsecure job !

this is a post i can relate to! when i graduated in engineering many years back.. i saw all my friends and student buddies get snatched up by the big banks.. lehman bros.. goldmans.. merril.. even hsbc.. and although lehman is no longer with us today.. but i was the only one to stick to engineering. why? coz i found it hard to justify to myself when i go to bed that i've done a job that "adds value".. i don't think shifting money around adds value at all.. in fact this money is now losing value like no tomorrow. bankers like all other evil people are artificial forces that make the cycle of boom and bust worse.. if we didn't have as many of them, then when the economy boomed, it would boom gently, and if it busted, it would deflate gently too.. none of this roller coaster stuff we see today.
anyway engineering, or teaching or any other proper profession adds value at the end of the day. i know most of my buildings will be around for longer than me.. and probably longer than my grandchildren.. and the teacher rests at night knowing that their students will one day do great things.. and that's a fantastic feeling.. sowing the seeds for tomorrow.. unlike others who sow problems for tomorrow!

you know, i was thinking of ditching teaching and taking up islamic banking. but i'm kinda confused!
sadia - it is human being thing that they are always looking for something different than what they have !
Maybe it worth trying Islamic banking - and I do think that it worth trying teaching for me :)
